EngineeringPostgraduate study

Study maritime engineering science and prepare to design and analyse marine craft and structures within the marine environment. You'll be well suited for this course if you want a career in the maritime sector and you’re a graduate, or similarly qualified, with an engineering, scientific or mathematical background.

If you don’t have specialised knowledge of maritime engineering, you’ll benefit from an introductory module to the fundamentals of Ship Science.

You can choose from five themes to specialise in:

A student working at a computer.

Advanced Computational Engineering

Study the theoretical and computational aspects of fluid behaviour and its interaction with structure, core to the fundamentals of engineering in the maritime environment.

Two students at work at a desk.

Marine Engineering and Autonomy

You’ll focus on the analysis and specification of marine engineering and autonomous systems that are used on board ships and other marine structures.

Students testing a craft at a wave simulation facility.

Naval Architecture

You’ll specialise in core naval architecture topics, such as resistance and propulsion, maritime structures, manoeuvring, hydrodynamics and materials.
