Principal Research Fellow and Reader in Photonics at the Optoelectronics Research Centre, University of Southampton. Over 25 years’ experience in both low dimensional semiconductor physics and photonics technology. Founder and head of Photonic, Electronic and Plasmonic Microstructured Optical Fibres group at the ORC. EPSRC Advanced Research Fellowship in molecular nanoelectronics at the Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge before joining ORC Southampton in 2001. Dr Sazio has over 100 journal (3 in Science/Nature journals) and conference publications, holds 3 patents with numerous invited talks at international photonics and materials conferences as well as serving as Topic chair for Optical Materials at OSA CLEO/EQEC Europe. He has generated as PI and Co-I EPSRC grants >£7.6M.
