Dr Adam J Sobey is Lecturer within Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Southampton.
Adam graduated in 2006 from the University of Southampton with a MEng degree in Aeronautical Engineering with Astronautics. In 2010 he completed his PhD thesis focusing on Concurrent Engineering in the Context of the Leisure Boatbuilding Industry. In 2009 he was appointed as a Research Fellow to manage a project looking at Damaged Ships Structures for the MoD/LR Centre of Excellence in Marine Structures. This project run jointly between University of Southampton and University College London looking at the hydrodynamics and structural modelling of damaged ships in both steel and composites. Since 2012 Adam has been employed in the LRET Ship Design for Enhanced Environmental Performance UTC looking at improvements in composite ship design through optimisation, reliability and improvements in concurrent engineering through incorporation of the supply chain.
