Accommodation for Clearing students

We can no longer guarantee accommodation for applicants applying through Clearing after Monday 17 August. We recommend researching private alternatives.

How to find private accommodation

Applications submitted before 17 August

If you applied for a course through Clearing by Monday 17 August, 5pm, UK time, submit your accommodation application by Wednesday 19 August, 5pm, UK time, to still be guaranteed a place in accommodation. T&Cs apply

If you previously applied for accommodation before accepting a place through Clearing, you don't need to reapply. Your original application will be processed in line with any guarantee that was in place at the time you submitted it.

Due to UCAS and processing times, we recommend confirming the University of Southampton as your choice in UCAS as soon as possible after receiving your offer. Our admissions team are working hard to confirm students and send Southampton ID numbers so that you can submit your accommodation application. They will be sent in batches at intervals so please don't worry if you don't receive it straight away.

How to apply for accommodation

Before you can apply for accommodation, you must have accepted your Clearing offer in UCAS Hub and received your confirmation email from the University. In this email you'll get your Southampton ID number, which you'll need for your application.

You can learn more about the Clearing application process and what you need to do before applying for accommodation on our page about how Clearing works.

Before you apply, you'll need to choose the halls and room types you want to select. We have halls across both Southampton and Winchester, including our own halls and private halls with special rates exclusive to Clearing applicants:

  • Highfield Hall (University halls)
  • Erasmus Park (University halls)
  • Lucia Foster Welch (private halls)

To apply for a place in our halls or a special rates private hall, find the halls and room types you want to select on our halls page and follow the application instructions provided.
