Current research

Nic Bury's current research focuses on addressing issues associated with United Nations Sustainability Development Goal 14 Life Below Water and 15 Life on Land. His research address issues associated with the impact of chemical pollution of aquatic organim health and aquatic biodiveristy. Current projects include:

1. The use of fish cell cultures to better understand how aquatic water chemistry and fish physiological processes influence the uptake of pollutants, their bioaccumulation and impact on health.

2. The use of functional data derived from steroid receptor reporter assays (the molecular initating event) and computational methods to predict which fish species are sensitive to synthetic glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids.
