Typical entry requirements

Other qualifications, including EU and international qualifications, are considered on an individual basis

Mature Students

We welcome UCAS applications from mature students. UCAS defines a mature student as any student who is over the age of 21 when they commence their studies. Each application is considered on an individual basis, but we do prefer that some preparation study has been undertaken within the last two years, such as an Art Foundation or an Access to HE course. If you have not studied one of these courses, we may still invite you to attend an interview. Please contact Admissions for further information or advice.

English Language requirements

International and EU students must also comply with the English language entry requirements of the University of Southampton;

Fashion Design, Fine Art, Games Design and Art, Graphic Arts and Textile Design: IELTS 6.0 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each component, or equivalent.

Fashion Marketing with Management: IELTS 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in reading and writing and 5.5 in speaking and listening, or equivalent

Please see English language entry requirements for further details of English tests that we accept.

If you don’t meet our English language entry requirements for direct entry onto our BA programmes, you could be eligible to study on one of the University’s English language pre-sessional programmes at the Centre for Language Studies.

For more information please visit Winchester School of Art Undergraduate Pre-sessional Programmes.
