She designed and set up the WSA Sustainability Forum in 2016 and continues to develop its remit. This event responds to the need for a clear and visible alignment between the Forum, internal and external research, education, and enterprise strategies – and enhances the student experience. Sustainability is at the heart of her teaching and research – equality, diversity and inclusiveness are built into the curriculum though innovative projects and research. She provides expert advice and leadership on Sustainability, Clothing, Fashion, Pedagogy.
Her industry background and many years of extensive travel for work – China, Hong Kong, South Korea, India, and Europe – gives her an awareness and experience of issues stemming from the social, cultural and economic diversity of students. She has represented the University abroad on several international trips and regularly engages with Industry contacts and educational bodies and institutions. Post-Pandemic, she continues to implement new ways of working by taking a blended approach to teaching and assessment. She is chair of WSA Education Group and works closely with The Centre for Higher Education Practice (CHEP).
