Research project: Carbon Nano Tube (CNT) Composite Surfaces for Electrical Contact Interfaces
An IeMRC funded project.
An IeMRC funded project.
MEMS switches/relays have been forecast as a multi-billion ($) technology area for over 20 years. This has yet to be achieved due to the lack of switching structures that can provide both high conductivity as well as high reliability and long lifetimes. This project aims at the development of novel CNT/metal composite surfaces for switch contacts. It is envisaged that these switches can deliver unprecedented mechanical and electrical performance with strong potential for high value manufacturing.
