Our academics are involved in collaborations with many universities and research centres across the world. We are also actively engaged in the EU's Erasmus student exchange programme and have exchange agreements with two German universities (Friedrich-Alexander-Universität in Erlangen-Nürnberg and Johann Wolfgang Goethe Universität in Nürnberg) and with the University of Warsaw, Poland.
The countries with which we have links include:
Belgium, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Netherlands, United States, China, India, Brazil, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Mexico, Germany, Greece, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Ireland, Lithuania, Nepal, Poland, and Portugal.
If you have the necessary language skills, you may choose to spend part or all of your second year studying at one of these universities; courses taken at these institutions would contribute to your degree. Language courses are available through Modern Languages and Linguistics at Southampton to help you improve your skills in order to study abroad.
We have recently established an exchange programme with the Department of Politics and International Relations at Stockholm University, Sweden for research students and postdoctoral staff. This is an exciting opportunity to carry out research in a different institution and benefit from the range of expertise available in Stockholm.
For more information, have a look at the departmental website and staff interests at Stockholm University. If you would like to make use of this opportunity, please discuss it with our head of research, PGR coordinator and your supervisor(s).
The University of Southampton currently has over 250 links with around 167 Erasmus partner institutions across 20 countries.
