Hepatitis C in children

SHTAC has been commissioned by the NIHR Health Technology Assessment Programme on behalf of the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) to carry out a systematic review and economic evaluation of treatment of chronic hepatitis C with peginterferon alfa and ribavirin in children and young people.

The review follows on from previous guidance issued by NICE, based on reports produced by SHTAC, on the treatment of chronic hepatitis C in adults. It will look at how effective the combination of peginterferon alfa and ribavirin is in children and young people aged 3-17 years from a clinical and cost perspective. The review is in progress and NICE is expected to issue guidance in August 2013.
