A Russell Group university with a great chemistry department, Southampton seemed incredibly vibrant and welcoming.

One of my highlights of my time here has been starting my research project. I have access to so many amazing facilities and a lot of independence. I think this is the perfect way to prepare me for a career in chemistry!

I had taken a gap year before coming to Southampton, so I was a little worried I’d find it difficult adjusting to being back in education, and a little anxious about settling in. However, once I arrived I realised all of my fears were for nothing – there was plenty of advice and support and I found I settled in very quickly.

There is an incredible student atmosphere from campus to the city centre. It truly feels like a student city.  I think Southampton is the perfect balance between urban and natural – we get to enjoy Southampton common and lots of greenery yet still have a vibrant nightlife and you never run out of things to do. It truly feels like a second home to me.

Southampton is incredibly vibrant and welcoming, and I love studying here. The passion that the lecturers have for their work is evident and it’s allowed me to really engage with the course content and develop an enthusiasm for research – I’m now very keen on a research career, something I wouldn’t have imagined before coming to Southampton.
