I am a Senior Teaching Fellow in the Academic Centre for International Students (ACIS), in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Southampton. I have worked in ELT for over twenty years and taught General English, English for Academic Purposes, English for Specific Academic Purposes, Critical Thinking and British Culture. I am a member of BALEAP and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I have also been appointed to External Examiner positions.

I am currently the Examinations and Academic Integrity Officer for the Academic Centre for International Students. I coordinate English Language Stage 7 and work on English Language Stage 4. I lead EAP in-sessional classes for some undergraduates and PGRs at the School of Medicine, for MA Global Media Management students at WSA, for University-wide in-sessional classes on Critical Thinking, and I deliver some sessions for MSc engineering students. I am the 2nd supervisor for an iPhD research project (Writing Centres in Saudi Arabia) and I act as a Personal Academic Tutor for Erasmus students. Previously, I coordinated the Pre-sessional Reading and Writing team from 2012-2015, leading a large team of Class Tutors and Programme Coordinators.

My pedagogical research interests lie in:

  • course design;
  • staff development and training;
  • materials and development for subject-specific EAP support;
  • heritage language learners;
  • metaphor and culture in language teaching.

I currently teach across a broad range of EAP and English Language programmes at the University. As Examinations and Academic Integrity Officer, I support colleagues and students with regard to University regulations and promoting good practice.
