The Centre fosters cutting-edge collaborative research in geometry, topology, homotopy theory, noncommutative geometry and group theory and provides a focal point for interdisciplinary applications in modern data science.

The Centre supports fundamental curiosity-driven research across a wide spectrum of geometry, topology and group theory. An important aspect of our work is to identify opportunities for direct applications of pure mathematics in the natural sciences. Members of the Centre lead interdisciplinary projects in medicine, biology and foundations of modern data science.

The Centre is located at the School of Mathematical Sciences at University of Southampton.
We are always interested in developing new collaborations and hosting visitors, postdocs and PhD students.

Disorder is Good – Taming disorder in self-assembled materials with topology

AI, big data and analytics
Environment, sustainability and clean growth
Instead of fighting disorder, we should identify structures that are ordered enough to perform the required function. We have combined cutting edge experiments with breakthrough methods from topological data analysis to quantify emerging structure in apparently disordered nano-assemblies and classify their response to light. We aim to design a new generation of controllable nanosystems at a fraction of the cost of the current methods.
