MUSI3140 Third Year Performance Tuition (for Music Minor and non-Music students)

Module Overview

You will study a musical instrument of your choice under the guidance of a professional teacher. Possibilities include brass instruments, keyboard instruments, string instruments, wind instruments, vocal studies and percussions. You will concentrate on strengthening your technical knowledge and command of your chosen instrument and have the opportunity to explore stylistic and expressive possibilities in various styles (e.g., classical, jazz, pop, musical theatre). You will prepare a solo programme, working with an accompanist (e.g. a pianist or harpsichordist) or a small accompanying group (e.g. a continuo ensemble, a rhythm section or backing band) of your choosing, as appropriate, or you may take on the role of accompanist with suitable musicians, following consultation with the relevant member of faculty. It is normally expected that students should have achieved ABRSM Grade 8 or equivalent and/or by agreement from a member of Faculty staff following audition.
