Mrs Sarah Monk is Educational Mental Health Practitioner Lead, supporting the new Mental Health Support Teams and CYP Mental Health Strategies (NHS, CYP IAPT), within Health Sciences at the University of Southampton.

I have worked 10 years in mental health, working as a practitioner using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I am training in both Low Intensity CBT and High Intensity CBT (training at the University of Southampton. I have experience treating common mental health problems in both adults and children, within Primary and Secondary NHS care settings.

I have previously worked for 2 years at the University of Sussex supporting the delivery of  their children and young people course (CWP).

I am a registered, BABCP Accredited, Therapist.

EMHP Programme Lead, EMHP Module Lead, Clinical Supervisor, Lecturing

EMHP (Education Mental Health Practice) Course is a clinical course established in January 2020, delivered as a Post Graduate Diploma.

The course is delivered in partnership with the Department of Health and Department of Education policy to support the government’s priority to increase access to psychological therapies and mental health support in educational settings. Posts are recruited through NHS Jobs and a ‘recruit-to-train’ position.

The EMHP Course is run in Partnership with Solent NHS and Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, who provide mental health services across the South of England.

The course trains Practitioners teaches Low-Intensity interventions to support children and young people with mild to moderate mental health needs, with a primary care setting. The course focuses on evidence based interventions and CBT.
