Gene therapy for rare disorders, coagulation medicine, Si RNA, Clinical trials, Southampton interdisciplinary Centre for Emerging Therapies (SiCE)
I am a clinical Haematologist and my area of interest is coagulation medicine. I have been active in clinical trials and have done multiple gene therapy trials for haemophilia. I am supporting the setting up of the Southampton interdisciplinary Centre for Emerging Therapies (SiCE).
I have done my Haematology training from the North London Deanery's Specialist Registrar Rotation from April 1995 to August 2000. I was first appointed as a Consultant Haematologist from September 2000 at the Centre for Haemostasis & Thrombosis at Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital. In my role as a Consultant Haematologist, I provide a comprehensive clinical service for a whole range of inherited and acquired bleeding and thrombotic disorders for adult and Paediatric patients. I developed the Clinical Trials Unit for Coagulation at Hampshire Hospitals and was very successful in recruiting a large number of patients into many Thrombosis and Haemophilia trials from 2010 to 2017. I am active in translational research and have multiple competitive grants from Industry for Investigator initiated Research. I have also set up a very successful Clinical Trials unit in Mumbai, India and am the highest recruiting site globally for a Phase 3 study in Haemophilia (First in class drug)
