Nansen Petrosyan is the Deputy Director of Admissions for Mathematics and the co-coordinator of Mathematics for Engineers "self-paced" course.
- His general area of research is Geometric Group Theory and its connections with Geometry and Topology.
- He often uses cohomological methods to understand properties of groups and the spaces on which they act.
He is interested in bounded-value cohomology theory introduced by Gersten and in Kropholler's conjecture on splittings of groups over codimension-1 subgroups.
He teaches fourth year module Hyperbolic Geometry and Foundation Year Mathematics B. He is also joint coordinator of "self-paced" first year course Mathematics for Engineering.
He joined University of Southampton as a lecturer in 2013. Before joining the University, he was a postdoctoral fellow of the Flemish Science Foundation (FWO) at University of Leuven, Belgium.
- The Emil Artin Junior Prize in Mathematics (2008)
