Dr Kimpton-Nye is currently investigating pragmatist, science-friendly approaches to the philosophy of laws of nature and the philosophy of modality (possibility, necessity, and related notions). He is also working on consciousness where he applies insights from the literature on dispositions and grounding to develop a new model of the metaphysics of consciousness that charts a middle ground between physicalism and dualism and makes room for the possibility of algorithmic AI consciousness.
