Project overview
A fully comprehensive project involving multiple partners from across the Hampshire Cultural Trust (HCT), involving a comprehensive fresh look at the processes of accessioning and deaccessioning, cataloguing, curation, and outreach within the largest cultural organisation in the county.
The project began with a partnership with the Gilbert White's House museum, which led to the development of teaching resources for History and Geography Key Stages 3-5, promoted by the Royal Geographical Society.
This proof of concept has led to the co-creation of HCT's policy on accessioning and deaccessioning Global South and colonial artefacts, co-authoring of exhibition materials, work in the HCT archives on cataloguing and metadata, training for HCT staff on material culture, and the delivery of public outreach work surrounding questions of empire's legacy.
