Dr Peng Wang

Dr Wang joined Southampton Business School in December 2014 as a Lecturer in Accounting/ Financial Management. Prior to the appointment, he was a post-doctoral researcher at Hanken School of Economics in Finland.

Peng completed his PhD in Finance from Hanken School of Economics, he also holds a MSc in Computational Finance from the same university and a Bachelor of Economics from Harbin Institute of Technology in Harbin, China.

Peng has presented and discussed in international well-known conferences such as Asian Finance Association Annual Meeting, FMA International Annual Meeting (twice), Spanish Economic Association (SAEe) Annual Meeting, FMA Asian Annual Meeting (session chair), and Chinese Economist Society (CES) Annual Meeting.

Peng has also presented his research in seminars such as GSF (Graduate School of Finance) workshop (three times), departmental seminars(three times), The Ratio Colloquium for Young Social Scientists, PhD workshop in Corporate Governance, and BOFIT Seminar at Bank of Finland.

Peng’s research interests include corporate governance and corporate finance.

Funding, awards and scholarships

Dr Wang has been granted 65,000 euros from OP-Pohjola Group Research Foundation for his project: Dragon V.S. Viking: How do the same institutional investors invest in distinctive stock markets?

He has been awarded Pacific-Basin Finance Journal Best Paper Award in 2013 Asian Finance Association Annual Meeting. He has also been awarded the Spanish Economic Association (SAEe) 2013 conference grant which is funded by Fundación Ramón Areces.

During his doctoral studies, he has received scholarships from different sources such as Graduate School of Finance (GSF) fellowship funded by the Academy of Finland, Hanken Foundation, Wallenberg Centre for Financial Research.

  4. Institutional Investors and Conservative Financial Reporting: Evidence from China (with Yue Chen, Haizhi Wang and Xinting Zhen)
