Overview

Marshall Scholarships support high-achieving students from the United States to study in the UK. Scholars are selected for their leadership potential and commitment to strengthening academic, cultural and professional links between the UK and the US.

The scholarship funds postgraduate study at master's or PhD level for up to 2 years.

Eligibility

To get this scholarship you must:

  • be a citizen of the United States
  • have an undergraduate degree from an accredited 4-year college or university in the United States
  • have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.7 in your undergraduate degree when you apply. Rounded GPAs are not accepted
  • have graduated from your first undergraduate college or university after April 2023
  • have an offer to study an eligible postgraduate programme at Southampton

You must not

  • have studied for, or hold, a degree or equivalent qualification from a UK university
  • hold GCSEs or A levels gained through study at a school in the UK

 

Permanent residency

Permanent residency

We consider your permanent residency to be where you have lived for 3 or more years before the start of the course.

This does not include where you have been living solely for study purposes if it is different from your permanent place of residency.
