This module will allow you to demonstrate your awareness and considerations of the context in which you are researching, and how this context informs and challenges your studio practice.

Making notes from critical readings, contextual references will document the clear development of your research. Reflect on your practice and identify ideas that will inform a more critical approach to your work. A self-reflective, critical approach to research is essential for the success of this module.

This submission should be accompanied by a bibliography with a selection of suitable visual and academic references.

Learning in this module builds on the skills you developed through Critical Thinking and Writing 2. It is intended to be highly independent and self-directed, supported by lectures and tutorials. The approach encourages you to reflect on your practice in a contemporary and focused context.

The assessment of this module is the 3500-word illustrated essay. The essay will be submitted hardcopy and via turn-it-in. It is intended that it will assist your practice and research after graduation.
