Learning Outcomes

Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:

• Demonstrate that you have met the relevant skills and knowledge in the required stage of the PDP, which includes reflecting on your conduct and engagement in placement learning (with respect to the guidance, codes and polices referred to in the above learning outcomes, your progress (with respect to the IRCP) and your experiences on placement, demonstrating self-awareness of your strengths and weaknesses, your accomplishments and challenges, and your learning needs for the remaining clinical placement.
• Demonstrate a basic level of safe, effective and patient-centred practice of core procedures in the relevant stage of the IRCP.
• Demonstrate professional conduct and engagement in placement learning according to (i) the Placement Handbook and Terms of Placement (including the Placement Learning Charter); (ii) NHS constitution (particularly the Principles and Values of the NHS) (iii) Guidance on Conduct and Ethics for Students by the Health & Care Professions Council; (iv) Code of Conduct by Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists appropriately interpreted for students; (v) Good Scientific Practice by Academy for Healthcare Scientists appropriately interpreted for students; (vi) guidance in the Placement Handbook on attendance, punctuality and use of social media; (vii) adherence to local policies on dress code, hygiene, health & safety and other policies covered in your inductions.

• Observation of clinical practice
• Participating in clinical practice under direct/indirect supervision (see Terms of Placement)
• Self-directed study, including protected study time (half a day per week)

Assessment strategy

You must pass every component of assessment below in order to progress to Part 3 of the clinical pathway. The outcome of the assessments will be considered by the Supplementary Exam Board in September.

Referral MethodNone; if you fail, you can transfer to non-clinical pathway and progress to Part 3.
