Learning Outcomes

Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:

• No learning outcomes. This module is not assessed. It is required for students’ fitness to practice prior to starting placements

Interactive sessions:

• The expectations of you, your placement provider, the university and other relevant parties during your placement, such as described in the Placement Handbook available from www.southampton.ac.uk/audplace
• The professional expectations of you during placement, including fitness to practice and the expectations of your professional body. This includes understand various standards conduct, performance and ethics.
• The policies and procedures governing placement, the placement processes and how you will be supported, trained and assessed on placement

Practicals:

• Refresher of basic clinical skills
• Communication skills that are relevant for real-time, patient-centred clinical practice

Teaching and learning methods

Small-group interactive discussion and practical sessions. Some sessions will use simulated patients. The sessions will be recorded wherever possible (e.g. in order to support reflective practice).

Assessment strategy

There is no summative assessment. You will receive formative feedback via the practicals and workshops in particular.
