Module overview

This course aims to further develop the confidence of PG researchers in their teaching practice. Participants will reflect on their experiences, keep a teaching diary and engage in peer observations. They will critically evaluate their learning, improve their practice and share their insights.

This is the third part of training for all doctoral researchers who are employed as teaching assistants in the School of Chemistry. It is for demonstrators, graders or seminar leaders who have completed OTD 1 and CHEM8048.

This module will lead to a voluntary portfolio application (descriptor D1) to advanceHE / HEA and after successful HEA panel evaluation to Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (AF-HEA).

This session is for Doctoral researchers who have completed ‘Induction to Teaching Skills for Postgraduates in Chemistry – Induction to laboratory demonstration, grading, and feedback provision – ITSPG 1/CHEM’ and have subsequently gained some demonstrating or teaching experience.
