Module overview

This module aims to explore the historical development and importance of geography as a field as well as some of the most important intellectual traditions in the discipline (covering both human and physical geography) while introducing students to key concepts such as space, place, time, scale, uneven development, colonialism, systems, risk, globalisation, nature and landscape. The module will also help students understand the various programmes in the school and pathways for specialising in certain sub-fields, such as cultural geography or quaternary environments, through module selection in subsequent years.
