Aims and Objectives
Learning Outcomes
Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:
- Describe the biological, psychological and sociological adaptations that occur to the human body systems during pregnancy and how these adaptations impact upon the woman and her family.
- Discuss the role of the midwife in relation to the holistic assessment and monitoring of the woman and fetus and the provision of antenatal care.
- Identify, justify and apply a sound knowledge base to the midwifery skills required to perform care for women and families within the context of the universal care for all women.
- Describe the research evidence and national guidance underpinning antenatal midwifery practice and care
- Discuss the professional regulations, accountability and scope of practice surrounding midwifery care in the UK and the organisation of maternity care.
