Knowledge and Understanding

Having successfully completed this module, you will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:

• Effective communication through performing.
• Effective programming of the repertoire of your chosen instrument (or voice).

• Structure practice sessions effectively.
• Display an informed musical understanding of your chosen repertoire

• Organise your time efficiently.

Subject Specific Practical Skills

Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:

• Exert greater technical control over your instrument or voice

You will meet with your instructor individually and will be required to learn repertoire appropriate to your level and year, as well as technical materials provided by performance staff.

You will attend lunchtime concerts and engage in relevant performance projects and workshops run by visiting musicians, members of the department and Heads of Performance.

Teaching and learning methods

We are aiming to deliver a significant amount of your teaching face to face, blended with online learning, unless circumstances dictate otherwise. In which case the delivery could comprise an increased element of online learning, or move to entirely online if face to face teaching is not possible or advisable

Teaching will be delivered in lessons with specialist teachers and workshop sessions. Where possible, you will be given the opportunity to participate in classes/workshops and department performance projects (often resulting in public performance), as well as the opportunity to take part in workshops and masterclasses with visiting performers.

Where possible, you will also learn while listening and observing lunchtime concerts and while rehearsing with accompanists (if appropriate for your programme).
