NPCH2031 Clinical Assessment and Planning Care for Children

Module Overview

In this module you will enhance your skills in taking a history and clinical assessment of children. You will be able to evaluate the information gathered in order to develop an individualised integrated plan of care for children which includes working with children’s carers.

Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in communication with children and their carers to gather information to inform psychological and physical assessment of health and wellbeing.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the physical assessment skills of inspection, palpation, and auscultation in the physical assessment of body systems over the duration of childhood in order to identify nursing needs of children
  • Work in partnership with children and their families to develop child centred plans of care based on a nursing assessment and models which reflect nursing theories and practices.
  • Discuss the assessment and planning of children’s palliative and end of life care
