In this module you will further develop the specialist skills required to be a mental health nurse when working with people with complex mental health care needs. You will have an opportunity to explore the challenges that can be presented and develop skills to help you navigate these to promote a recovery orientated approach.

Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:
- Demonstrate a comprehensive and critical understanding of the legal and ethical issues relating to individuals with mental health care needs.
- Critically evaluate and synthesise the evidence relating to the biological, psychological and sociological therapeutic interventions that can be used to promote well-being and recovery of people with mental health care needs.
- Discriminate the interpersonal, clinical reasoning, diagnostic and decision-making skills required for the assessment, planning and delivery of care for a person with complex mental health care needs.
- Develop and justify an in-depth knowledge of the aetiology, treatment and care needs of people with a range of mental health care needs.
- Deconstruct the potential power issues that exist in professional-service user relationships and articlate the nurse's role in addressing them.
