Calling the Shots: Women and Contemporary UK Film Culture

BECTU is the UK's media and entertainment trade union; sectors covered include broadcasting, film, independent production, theatre and the arts, leisure, and digital media.

After Calling the Shots is complete, all recorded interviews with women practitioners will be housed in the BECTU History Project so that they will be available for viewing by researchers and the public.

The BECTU History project is a collection of oral history recordings made with practitioners in the film, television, radio, and theatre worlds. To date there are over 600 interviews in the collection, varying in length from 30 mins to over 20 hours in the cases of Sidney Gilliat, Ronnie Neame and Roy Baker. In total there are over 4000 hours of material.
