Dr Leran Wang's photo

Dr Leran Wang is Research Fellow within Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Southampton.

Leran Wang received his MSc degree from the University of Liverpool and PhD degree from University of Southampton, in 2004 and 2009 respectively. Before coming to the UK, he received the BEng degree from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications in 2003. He has been a research fellow at the University of Southampton since 2009. He is currently working on the E-BREAK (Engine Breakthrough Components and Subsystems) project sponsored by EU FP7 at the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre. Before joining Rolls-Royce UTC, he was working on the EPSRC funded project “Next Generation Energy-Harvesting Electronics: A Holistic Approach”. His research interests focus on computational modelling and optimisation in both electrical and mechanical domains.

Research interests

  • Geometry manipulation and optimisation of gas turbine engines
  • Optimisation algorithms using high-performance computing and MPI
  • Automated design flow for energy harvesting systems
  • HDL based reliable modelling of mixed electrical distributed mechanical systems for MEMS applications
  • Integrated approach to automotive system modelling and optimisation
