Research project: GridSample: A user-friendly tool to generate household survey sampling units in complex settings

Currently Active:

GridSample is a tool to select clusters for household surveys using gridded population data. The tool may be used when a gridded population dataset is more accurate than the census sample frame, the survey design calls for spatial oversampling to improve small area estimates, or when custom-sized clusters are needed.

Start date: 1/5/2017
End date: 31/12/2022

GeoData researchers have worked closely with WorldPop and FlowMinder researchers to take GridSample from a research demonstrator to an operationalised survey instrument, integrated with WorldPop data sets and delivered through robust infrastructure and used by high profile stakeholders to deliver household surveys worldwide.
