Miss Sandy Avrutin is a postgraduate research student within Ocean and Earth Science, National Oceanography Centre Southampton at the University of Southampton.

2019-: PhD at University of Southampton

2015-2019: Integrated masters (MMet) in Meteorology and Climate, University of Reading

Dissertation title: Changes in Arctic freshwater over the recent decades. Examined the relationship between build-up of freshwater in the Beaufort Gyre to changes in Ekman pumping.

Research interests

  • Effects of anthropogenic climate change on multiple Earth systems
  • Shortfalls of international climate change policy
  • Relationship between transient climate response to CO2 emissions and future carbon budget

Research project: Beyond global mean warming: pathways to achieve multiple climatic targets

I am examining how future CO2 emissions targets/pathways can be framed using targets relating to multiple at-risk Earth systems instead of only mean global warming.
