Shahnaz holds a doctoral degree from the University of Southampton, Southampton Business School for her research on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability in entrepreneurial firms in developing countries.
Shahnaz earned her MBA from George Mason University, Virginia, USA in 2007, with Market and Business development concentration. She earned her BSc degree from Assiut University, Egypt, majoring in Business Administration. She was appointed to an academic position at the same University.
While pursuing her PhD degree, Shahnaz was the postgraduate student representative of the Faculty of Business and Law, Equality and Diversity Advisory Group. The group worked towards ensuring integration and mainstreaming of the University's equality and diversity agenda throughout the Faculty. Her role involved monitoring and evaluating the Faculty, progressing on the University’s various equality plans as required by legislation.
Shahnaz was also a Research Fellow and Project Coordinator for the European INTERREG England-France cross-channel 3-year EU-funded project on university-industry collaboration, entrepreneurship, and CSR between the University of Southampton in the UK and the University of Normandie in France. This project involved a strategic partnership between UK and French universities.
Shahnaz was a Principal Teaching Fellow in Strategy, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship, at Southampton Business School, at the University of Southampton in the UK. Throughout her career, Shahnaz has held key leadership roles. Shahnaz led undergraduate and postgraduate programs. She was the program director of the undergraduate business management program and the program director of the MSc International Entrepreneurship and Management, MSc Business Strategy and Innovation Management, and MSc Digital Business programs at the University of Southampton, UK.
Shahnaz was involved in several research projects. Shahnaz also was involved in a project concerning eco-tourism and social entrepreneurship in emerging economies, funded by the British Council-Newton Fund Institutional Links Scheme. The project generated insights into sustainable entrepreneurship strategies of SMEs in this industry sector, to create knowledge exchange between industry, government organizations, and universities.
Shahnaz was also involved in a project related to diversity and commercialization of research funded by The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), UK.
