Dr Duncan Stevens is a Teaching Fellow in Marine Geophysics within Ocean and Earth Science, National Oceanography Centre Southampton at the University of Southampton.

Duncan specialises in investigating active tectonics, specifically at subduction zones and the Indian Ocean diffuse plate boundaries, using marine geophysical methods including swath bathymetry, multichannel seismic reflection and borehole data from ocean drilling. Duncan has undertaken fieldwork in New Zealand both on- and off-shore in efforts to understand the subduction process along the east coast of New Zealand’s North Island.

Duncan teaches Seafloor Exploration and Surveying (both the undergraduate and master’s level modules), which use integrated geophysical datasets to analyse seabed and subsurface processes and to identify potential geohazards that threaten undersea infrastructure.
