I am an Associate Professor in Marketing Research at the Southampton Business School.
My interests include: the value of 'presentation' in a range of domains; advertising - new methods and the quest for attention; and the future of (food) retailing.
My ideas have been published in many of the top journals in the field, including: Journal of Retailing, Harvard Business Review (HBR), Journal of Advertising, Journal of Advertising Research, Plos One, European Journal of Marketing, and more. I am a co-author of two Routledge anthologies (one on humour and advertising, the other on the future of managing food) and have experience of chairing conferences (BAM, ICMC) and editing special issues in top journals (IMM, JSM). I am an Associate Editor of the Journal of Strategic Marketing and sit on the editorial board of journals such as Industrial Marketing Management.
I have a track record of engaging closely with industry and have consulted for a plethora of multinational organisations. My white paper on the future of the rural high street was adopted by the Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) and presented at Whitehall and I am a founder and collaborator of the annual report on the "State of Martech" in collaboration with renowned martech company - Clevertouch Marketing.
I have previously held the School level post of Research Centre Director (Centre for Marketing Research), Director of Internationalisation and Faculty level post of Associate Dean (International).
My passion is truly teaching and students and I have won many teaching awards, including the 2020 SUSU Most Engaging Lecturer Award and the Pastoral Award (2021)
