Biography
Dr Ella Baker is a postdoctoral research fellow in Human Development and Health within the Faculty of Medicine.
Dr Ella Baker completed and undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the Univeristy of Portsmouth, followed by a PhD in the Academic Unit of Human Development and Health, University of Southampton. During this time was named as one of the top three young investigators in Lipids and Nutrition at the International Society for the Study of Fatty acids and Lipids conference.
Dr Bakers' research to date focuses on the effect of plant-derived fatty acids on endothelial function and inflammation, compared to marine derived fatty acids, in the context of cardiovascular disease.
Dr Bakers first post doctural position was as a researcher on the ‘preventomics’ clinical trial examining the effects of personalised nutrition on weight loss.
Her interests include novel plant-derived fatty acids, exploring the metabolism and functionality of fatty acids as well as the delivery of personalised nutrition.
