Dr Simonov Kusi-Sarpong is a Lecturer in Operations Management at the Department of Decision Analytics and Risk within Southampton Business School at the University of Southampton, and a Visiting Associate Professor at the Department of Transport and Supply Chain Managment within Johannesburg Business School at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa.
Simonov holds a PhD in Management Science and Engineering with specialisation in Operations and Supply Chain Management from Dalian University of Technology, PR of China, an MSc in Management with specialisation in Operations and Supply Chain management from The University of Liverpool, UK and Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) in Academic Practice from The University of Southampton, UK. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), Chartered Member (MCIPS) of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply, UK, and serves on many Journal Editorial Boards including, Resources, Conservation and Recycling, and an Associate Editor for Circular Economy for Frontiers in Sustainability and a reviewer for many reputable journals.

Current research
Simonov’s research focuses on emerging and developing economies and investigates the impact of organisations on the natural environment. His research provides practitioners insights into resources allocation and implementation for transitioning their organisations and supply chains towards sustainability. Dr Kusi-Sarpong’s research provides operations and supply chains sustainability tools to inform managers and organisations for sustainability adoption and implementation. His research is more important to aid organisations to respond to and address global, emerging and pressing sustainability issues. Simonov’s research includes both analytical and empirical approaches.
Simonov’s research has been published in some of the top-tier and leading journals such as Technological Forecasting and Social Change; Omega: The International Journal of Management Science, Business Strategy and the Environment; International Journal of Production Economics; International Journal of Production Research; Production Planning and Control; Transportation Research Part A: Policy and Practice; Transportation Research Part E: Logistics and Transportation Review; Journal of the Operational Research Society; Industrial Management and Data Systems; Journal of Cleaner Production; Resources Policy; Journal of Modelling in Management; and Resources, Conservation and Recycling among others, with presentations at some prestigious conferences such as Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) annual meetings. His unique research and network combine academic rigour with transformational impact, particularly in developing countries such as Ghana, China, Iran, India, UAE, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

Biography
Before joining Southampton Business School, Simonov was a Research Fellow at the University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth, UK.
Prior to academia, Simonov worked for over a decade in various capacities in the operations and supply chain discipline; mostly from mining and mining support industries.
