Dr Liliana Andriano is a Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor) in Social Demography and Global Health at the Department of Social Statistics and Demography, where she also serves as Doctoral Programme Director. She is a Jacobs CIFAR Research Fellow (2026–2028). She is also an Associate Member of Nuffield College, University of Oxford.
Liliana's research investigates how climate change, conflict and other environmental processes affect health and demographic outcomes in sub-Saharan Africa. She has investigated how weather shocks during early childhood and young adulthood affect child health and family formation. Her research also investigates the role of female education in facilitating adaptation to climate change. A more recent strand of her research agenda funded by the British Academy and Leverhulme Trust investigates the relationship between political conflict and demographic processes.
