Haiyu joined the Department of Gerontology at the University of Southampton in 2020 as an ESRC SCDTP-funded PhD student, and she became an ESRC SCDTP-funded postdoctoral fellow in 2023. Her PhD project aims to investigate the effects of caregiving on the spousal carer's health and estimate the financial cost of caregiving by the spousal carer based on data from waves 2015 and 2018 of the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study. During her postdoc period, she plans to disseminate her work, which is related to her PhD project, through publications, conferences, and research visits to other research centres.
