Our research explores the adverse impacts of musculoskeletal problems in the workplace. We aim to improve the lives of workers, patients and employers by informing policy and practice.

About

The Centre for Musculoskeletal Health and Work (CMHW) is a multidisciplinary collaboration between 8 UK universities, including Southampton. Our partners are:

  • University of Aberdeen
  • Keele University
  • King’s College London
  • University of Lancaster
  • Liverpool John Moores University
  • University of Manchester
  • University of Salford

The Centre's musculoskeletal research focuses on 3 areas:

  • the workplace
  • healthcare settings
  • public health

Within each, we investigate how to measure work outcomes, identifying evidence to help employers see the value of workplace interventions, and working with policy makers.
