LOVE LETTERS [WITH AI]

Project overview

LOVE LETTERS [WITH AI] brings together leading professional musicians with a Stimulus Fund Project

University of Southampton (UoS) interdisciplinary team of experts in contemporary music composition, modern/contemporary literature and AI natural language processing (NLP), to explore how AI text generators can innovatively collaborate in the creation of poetry and/or lyrics for new experimental compositions. New practice-led research outputs will be workshopped, rehearsed and then presented in high profile performances in Southampton and London by external partners Riot Ensemble, one of Europe’s leading new music groups, and ‘British soul sensation’ singer Hannah Williams, in association with the UoS Web Science Institute3. The largest scale new work, LOVE LETTERS, by Benjamin Oliver4 (PI) will be also recorded by Riot Ensemble and Hannah Williams for later release by Birmingham Record Company.
