Research project: The British in South Africa: Continuity or Change? - Dormant

Currently Active:

Pauline Leonard is Co-Investigator with Daniel Conway, University of Loughborough, on this project funded by the British Academy 2010-2011.

This research aims to take a timely look at the position of British residents in South Africa as the post-apartheid Government approaches its twentieth year in office. This period has witnessed some radical changes in the relations between black South Africans, and an important question to explore now is the extent to which the attitudes and self images of British people have changed in accordance with the new political aim to construct an egalitarian and multicultural ‘Rainbow Nation’.
