Hi, I'm Sophie Hodson and I studied Population and Geography within Social Sciences at the University of Southampton.

My degree helped me to get my current role as a research analyst.....During my degree I gained a strong understanding of the statistical analysis software SPSS, a programme I now use in my job on a daily basis.

I chose to study at the University of Southampton because of the unique course (Population and Geography) that Southampton offered. The course content was incomparable to any other universities I'd seen and for me was the perfect combination of Human Geography and Statistics.

When I first visited Southampton everyone was outside enjoying themselves in the sunshine, I was drawn in by the great campus atmosphere and the buzzing Student's Union.

I loved my time at Southampton University, I met some amazing people and had a lot of fun. Southampton has a fantastic social scene and I enjoyed being part of the cheerleading and dancing societies. It was great being part of a smaller school like Social Statistics, everyone on our course became a close group of friends and the network of support from tutors and lecturers was brilliant.

My degree helped me to get my current role as a research analyst in the Insight and Evaluation department at Carat, a media planning and buying agency (part of the Aegis Media network).

Modules such as Research Methods in Social Science and Multivariate Data Analysis provided me with the knowledge and passion to apply statistical analysis to the ever evolving media landscape. During my degree I gained a strong understanding of the statistical analysis software SPSS, a programme I now use in my job on a daily basis.
