The projects offered span from fast, empirical tools for aero-engine noise prediction, based on high-fidelity CFD or experiments, to full-aircraft and fleet-level noise modelling. These projects will be conducted within the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre in Propulsion Systems Noise.
This PhD develops "Continuous Psychophysics"—a rapid diagnostic tool for precise, patient-friendly assessments of visual, motor, and cognitive disorders in conditions including Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma, and Cranial Nerve Palsies. It aims to streamline clinical evaluations, facilitating quicker, accurate diagnoses, treatment decisions, and improved patient outcomes in ophthalmology and neuroscience.
This project will focus on electrolyte design to address critical scientific and engineering challenges in next-generation flow batteries, aiming to understand the relationship among redox couples, electrode materials, transport phenomena, and electrochemical mechanisms. It will develop high-performant semi-organic flow batteries with increased capacity retention.

Complex carbohydrates (or glycans) are the most abundant biopolymers in Nature. Plants are among the largest producers of glucose-based carbohydrate polymers, which they use as the essential scaffolding of the cell wall (cellulose) and as energy storage (starch). New research demonstrates that carbohydrates covalently attached to proteins activate specialized plant signalling networks that control plant growth and provide protection against both biotic and abiotic factors.
