The University's financial support package

This page provides information on the University's generous package of direct financial support for eligible students starting in the 2020/21 academic year. If you are starting your studies in 2019/20, please visit the Student Services page for information on the University's funding package.

Are you eligible for additional support?

You could be eligible for a means tested cash bursary of up to £2,000 from the University if you are:

You will need to provide your household information to Student Finance England (SFE) so we can assess your eligibility for this award. The University will calculate and process any bursary that you may be eligible for once your household income has been fully assessed and verified.

Your household income can be adjusted by Student Finance at any time if they feel that there has been a change in your circumstances. If a reassessment is completed, this may mean you become ineligible for the bursary or your entitlement is reduced. If a reassessment is completed then Student Finance will send you a letter confirming the adjustment to the address they have registered for you, you should ensure that you keep you address updated with them to ensure all communications reach in good time.

If you are returning from a period of suspension, you may be eligible for the University of Southampton Bursary. For further information regarding this, please contact the Student Services Centre on 023 8059 9599.

How much will you get?

If you are eligible to receive an award and your household income is below £16,000, you will receive a cash bursary of £2,000.

If you are eligible to receive an award and your household income is between £16,001 and £30,000, you will receive a cash bursary of £1,000.
