Money matters

 

As a postgraduate student you will need to pay annual tuition fees to the University for your programme of study. You may be able to apply for funding to help you cover your costs.

Postgraduate Loans (PGL) for Master's study

Postgraduate loans are now available for UK and EU students studying a postgraduate degree and research masters programmes.

These loans are worth up to £11,222 per student.

Scholarships

Postgraduate Taught Excellence in English Scholarships

This scholarship is available to applicants from mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau only. The scholarship will be in the form of a tuition fee reduction and will be processed automatically by the Admissions team if you meet the criteria. 

The £3,000 scholarship is offered to applicants who have been offered a place on one of the the School's master’s programmes starting September 2022. To qualify, you must meet the following criteria via any of the University’s accepted English language tests:

All IELTS or other accepted English proficiency qualifications need to be sent to us by Sunday 4 September 2022 to be considered for this award.

International Postgraduate Taught Scholarships

  1. The International Postgraduate Taught Scholarships are available to applicants from all international countries, with the exception of mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau.
  2. The scholarship will be in the form of a tuition fee reduction and will be processed automatically if students meet the criteria
  3. The scholarships of £3,000 are offered to applicants who have been offered a place on one of FAH PGT programmes and have achieved either a 1st classification (or equivalent) in their Bachelor’s degrees respectively.

Faculty of Arts & Humanities International Postgraduate Taught Merit Scholarship: 2020/21

For all new Faculty of Arts & Humanities postgraduate taught international students [non-EU/UK] enrolling in Sept 2020. Those students with a 1st class honours at undergraduate level, or equivalent qualification accepted by the university, will be awarded an automatic £3,000 scholarship.

If you are successful in gaining a place with us, this PGT Scholarship will mean an automatic reduction in your tuition fees. When we send your offer letter to you, we will also write to you to let you know you are eligible for one of these Scholarships. Providing you accept our offer of a place and meet all the conditions of your offer, we will confirm your £3,000 Scholarship before the start of the academic year in September 2020.

A wide range of scholarships are available to aid your studies at the University of Southampton.
