Learning Outcomes
Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:
- Demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to recognise, respond to, and manage, within the midwives’ scope of practice, maternal, fetal and neonatal deterioration and emergency situations.
- Demonstrate the ability to take responsibility for your own professional development linked to risk assessment, skills rehearsal, and self-care in relation to obstetric and neonatal emergencies.
- Compare and contrast the evidence base appropriate to the management of obstetric and neonatal emergency scenarios.
- Identify and justify the skills required for effective communication and team-working with other professionals within the obstetric/neonatal emergency scenario.
- Articulate the pathophysiology linked to the causes of obstetric and neonatal emergency scenarios.
