Module overview

A range of skills are required for those wishing to work in the realm of remote sensing and spatial analysis. This module will help develop the skills base of students with regard to academic skills as well as those of particular value to further research and/or employment. The skills will be developed within the context of topics in remote sensing and spatial analysis.

Sessions will focus on skills such as time-management, gathering information (library and electronic resources), effective reading and note-taking, referencing and plagiarism, essay writing, oral presentation, group work and report writing. You will also be introduced to modelling and undertake a statistical component which includes practical sessions using the R statistics environment. You will be encouraged to manage your own learning, by reflecting on your current levels of skills and developing learning goals where you have gaps.
